Area of expertise
Dr Krafchek has a unique background that combines knowledge and experience in teaching high-achieving students with her research about risk factors for eating disorders.
Research has shown that high academic achievement in school is associated with an increased risk of being diagnosed with an eating disorder.

As an educator involved in gifted and talented education, my aim is to raise awareness of the key stressors and risk factors that contribute to the development of disordered eating in academically high-achieving students and to provide teachers, counsellors, psychologists and parents of gifted and high-achieving students with proactive strategies to protect these students.

Additionally, I run workshops to help academically high-achieving students become more resilient, equipping them with effective strategies to cope with academic and social stress. These workshops are also relevant and available as professional development for adult high achievers in the workplace.
